An Artist’s Guide to Participating in Your Community (Board)

The Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance shared this very worthwhile event, from the League of Indecent Theater.  The discussions will take place in Brooklyn and at The National Black Theatre in East Harlem.  Below is information in how you can participate.

“The League of Independent Theater advocates for independent theater makers in New York City and this fall, we’re joining forces with arts and community organizations in Brooklyn and Harlem to give you the resources you need to defend, support and protect local art creators and practitioners throughout the city. These events will focus on direct and tangible ways to create positive change in your neighborhood and the community at large. Community boards play an important role in improving the quality of life for all New Yorkers, but many people don’t realize the significance of these boards or how they operate. Eliza Bent (of Real Talk Kip Talk) and Ike Ufomadu (of Ike at Night), will lead discussions with local community board members as well arts, public policy and community organizations on how to get involved in your local Community boards. At each event, you’ll learn how exactly to participate in your local board as well as how to become a better advocate for your neighborhood community.”
