Telling Our Stories: Photographers of Spirit of Community, January 21st

Join us for a dynamic discussion of the timeless qualities of photography as a tool to link community, foster change and celebrate art-making from the 1960s to the present. This free public event is part of our current SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY: ART OF HARLEM exhibition that showcases 13 artists whose images honor Harlem’s iconic development as a cultural capital.

Moderated by: Emmy-nominated Thomas Allen Harris, a filmmaker, photographer, lecturer and documentarian who explores the human condition and the search for identity, and co-produced the 2014 film, “Through a Lens Darkly”, a documentary about black photographers.

Featuring photographers: Henry Adebonojo; Tau Battice; David Vades Joseph; and Shawn Walker.

Hosted by Community Works NYC, this Event is part of Spirit of Community: Art of Harlem, located at Harlem Hospital Mural Pavilion, 512 Lenox Avenue at 135th Street.
