Join Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI) in collaboration with The Shabazz Center for Sou Sou! Saturdays: Our Afrifemme Heritage on Saturday, March 12th from 1:00 to 5:00pm at The Shabazz Center. This event will honor the contributions of women, past and present, to the culture and traditions of the African Diaspora.
Children of all ages can take part in art therapy reflecting upon the women in their lives. They will engage in physical movement through the exploration of dance traditions created by our femme forebearers, and dive into ancestral practices of African garment design that embody women’s stories.

Workshops will include Creative Art Therapy Workshop with Angelica Crespo: Reflective women-inspired poem & vision board art-making; Mujeres en Ritmo with Bombazo Dance Co.: Afro Puerto Rican Bomba Dance ~ Our Mother’s Traditions with Fatima Logan-Alston: African garment design embodying women’s stories ~ and more.
As we collectively commemorate Women’s History Month throughout March, gathering with your community honoring the matriarchs, healers, tradition holders, and storytellers who ensure future generations know their ancestors, leaders and heritage.

Sou Sou! Saturdays: Our AfriFemme Heritage will take place on Saturday, March 12th from 1:00 to 5:00pm at The Shabazz Center, 3940 Broadway at 165th Street, at the historic Audubon Ballroom in Washington Heights.
