The artist Paul Deo will be opening on May 7th at the Rio III Gallery in Harlem, with his solo exhibit entitled ‘Alternative Certainties.’ Prepare for a colorful, spiritual and psychedelic experience. Deo draws from the physical world around him, combining his work with fantasy, creating a transcendental experience for viewers. It is art that elevates. He is known for multimedia, digital technologies, sculptures, canvas and fantastical murals. One of which graces the side wall of the popular eatery, Corner Social on 126th Street and Lenox Avenue, painted in late 2013.

Deo, a Harlem-based artist, moved his family to New York from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina – a past that ties his work with a musical ribbon by way of his love of jazz, and his Aunt Auressa Moore, who introduced him to art and Harlem at an early age. His work is as vast as his imagination, as shown in his painting (below) “Chagall’s Dream.”
Alternative Certainties will be on view from May 7 through June 4 at Rio III Gallery, located at 898 Saint Nicholas Avenue, corner of 155th Street. Opening Reception on Sunday, May 7 from 2-5pm.
