Mark S. Kornbluth: DARK ~ an Exhibitions of Broadway-Inspired Photographs to Open at Cavalier Gallery

Cavalier Galleries is delighted to announce DARK—a solo exhibition of Mark S. Kornbluth’s photographs of Broadway theaters during the pandemic closure. The series comprises large-format photographs of dozens of New York City theater exteriors, a majority of which will be on display in the exhibition. Images of the Ambassador, Barrymore, Booth, Eugene O’Neill, Imperial, Lunt-Fontanne, Lyric, Music Box, New Victory, and Richard Rodgers theaters are featured, among others. Broadway shows captured in the historical moment include The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, Hangmen, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Inheritance, Moulin Rouge, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and TINA: The Tina Turner Musical. The exhibition opens Thursday, March 2, with an artist reception from 6–8 p.m., and runs through Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Broadway’s Best for Parkinson’s ~ It Takes A Village: Celebrating the Dark & Light of the Holidays Together

 

 

 

The winter holidays are a time when we celebrate light and illuminate the darkness. Anxiety, depression, and isolation can be heightened by Parkinson’s. On Wednesday, December 14, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (MMJCCM) will present a free, holiday virtual event, Broadway’s Best for Parkinson’s: It Takes A Village: Celebrating the Dark & Light of the Holidays Together, which will guide attendees on how to celebrate the holiday and build a community to help combat these tendencies and continue to live a vibrant life.

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan Presents: Broadway’s Best for Breast Cancer! The Healing Power of Music

 

 

 

This June 13, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan (MMJCCM) will raise the curtain on a special virtual health and wellness event—Broadway’s Best for Breast Cancer! The Healing Power of Music, featuring Broadway stars and health experts offering guidance to those experiencing health challenges or wishing to support friends and family members.

The free, virtual event takes place on Monday, June 13 at 6 p.m. ET and is beneficial for everyone but geared specifically to those living with or recovered from breast cancer. This special program is cosponsored by the MMJCCM and Dr. Alison Estabrook, a nationally recognized breast cancer surgeon and currently Professor of Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She was founder and chief of the Comprehensive Breast Center, Mount Sinai West, in New York City, and co-founder of Breastlink New York, an affiliate of Radnet. It is endorsed by MMJCCM community partners Sharsheret, The Nia Technique, and the American Cancer Society.

Black girl magic is reborn. Ntozake Shange’s for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf will be returning to Broadway with preview performances at Broadway’s Booth Theatre on April 1st ~ and officially opening April 20th.
