Beginning Thursday, April 4 and running through Thursday May 18, Cavalier Gallery is pleased to present the opening of A Mythical Menagerie featuring the works of Danish artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup at their Chelsea location (530 W 24th St, New York, NY 10011). The solo exhibition features more than 25 sculptures spanning the past decade of the artist’s oeuvre, including several new works that will be exhibited for the first time in the U.S.

Cavalier Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of the paintings of Paul G. Oxborough, on view in our West 24th Street gallery from November 2 through December 9, 2023. The exhibition consists of new works by the artist including many of his signature bar and restaurant scenes and marks the publication of a new monograph that surveys highlights of Oxborough’s career to date.

A Koala Bassoonist! A Rhino Strongman! In Bjørn Okholm Skaarup’s grand “Circus” installation, the animals themselves are running the show. The artwork, entitled Circus, is made of bronze and steel. It measures 78 x 39 x 117 inches. The full installation is on view through May, 2023 at Cavalier Gallery, 530 West 24th Street in Chelsea.

Mark S. Kornbluth: DARK ~ an Exhibitions of Broadway-Inspired Photographs to Open at Cavalier Gallery

Cavalier Galleries is delighted to announce DARK—a solo exhibition of Mark S. Kornbluth’s photographs of Broadway theaters during the pandemic closure. The series comprises large-format photographs of dozens of New York City theater exteriors, a majority of which will be on display in the exhibition. Images of the Ambassador, Barrymore, Booth, Eugene O’Neill, Imperial, Lunt-Fontanne, Lyric, Music Box, New Victory, and Richard Rodgers theaters are featured, among others. Broadway shows captured in the historical moment include The Book of Mormon, Hamilton, Hangmen, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Inheritance, Moulin Rouge, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and TINA: The Tina Turner Musical. The exhibition opens Thursday, March 2, with an artist reception from 6–8 p.m., and runs through Saturday, April 15, 2023.

Last year, New Yorkers in and around Pershing Square were treated to the whimsical outdoor sculpture installations created by Danish artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup affectionately named Hippo Ballerina, Hippo Ballerina, pirouette, and Rhino Harlequin, pirouette.

Now, a smaller version of Hippo Ballerina has been installed at One Dag Hammarskjöld alongside her friends, Hippo Ballerina, pirouette and Rhino Harlequin, pirouette.

Three Public Art Installations by Jim Rennert Arrive in Pershing Square, Across from Grand Central Terminal

Cavalier Gallery unveiled three life-size works by artist Jim Rennert, which have been installed in New York City’s Pershing Square Plaza West located on the west side of Park Avenue between East 41st and East 42nd Streets in Midtown Manhattan. Each sculpture stands over 6 feet tall and depicts the daily struggles and achievements of everyday people.  The sculpture installations are being facilitated as part of the New York City Department of Transportation’s Temporary Art Program.
