Flatiron NoMad Partnership to Unveil Interactive Art Installation ‘Control No Control’ by Iregular during 2023 Winter Glow, November 30th

The Flatiron NoMad Partnership today announced it will present the New York City debut of Control No Control – a large-scale interactive installation by digital art studio Iregular – on the Flatiron North Plaza at Broadway, Fifth Avenue, and 23rd Street, as the centerpiece of its new Winter Glow holiday programming.

Join the Winter Glow 2023 Parade! November 30th beginning at 4:30pm.

Presented in partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation’s Art Program (NYC DOT Art), Control No Control will be on view from November 30, 2023, through January 1, 2024, creating a highly visible landmark in the heart of Manhattan’s vibrant Flatiron and NoMad neighborhoods this winter.

‘What Art Is….’ Part of Flatiron NoMad Partnership Summer Series of Free Public Programming

This summer New Yorkers and visitors strolling through the Flatiron District  are being asked to respond to the prompt “Art is…” by writing their thoughts and feelings — in words and images — about what art in chalk on a public art installation. The response has been overwhelming, with passersby filling the installation’s two boxes with chalk messages every Thursday evening.

Flatiron NoMad Partnership Holds Free Memorial Day Weekend Walking Tour ‘From Decoration Day to Memorial Day’

This Memorial Day weekend, the Flatiron NoMad Partnership will host a free Memorial Day-themed historic walking tour on Sunday, May 28. The tour, “From Decoration Day to Memorial Day,” led by historian and author Miriam Berman, will give visitors an insight into the history of Memorial Day in the Flatiron NoMad District.

Aura Rosenberg: What is Psychedelic at Mishkin Gallery, Baruch College

What Is Psychedelic, co-presented by Mishkin Gallery and Pioneer Works, marks the first institutional survey of New York-born artist Aura Rosenberg. This two-venue exhibition traces the artist’s trajectory from early paintings of the 1970s to her more recent endeavors in photography, film, sculpture, and installation. Throughout her five decades long career in New York and Berlin, Rosenberg has moved through diverse styles, preferring to work thematically and serially while often returning to ideas from past projects. The exhibition also includes several previously unseen works, and Rosenberg’s collaborations with artists like Ei Arakawa, Mary Heilmann, Mike Kelley, Louise Lawler, and Haim Steinbach, all of which chronicle the breadth of her multifaceted career.

Flatiron Nomad Hosts The Inaugural Rangoli Art Celebration ~ Let’s Celebrate!

 

 

 

 

 

On Saturday, March 11th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the Flatiron NoMad Partnership in collaboration with Bombay Sandwich Co., PMT House of Dance, and Aeilushi Mistry will host an inaugural Rangoli Art Celebration. The family-friendly freer public event will feature Rangoli, an art form originating from India where beautiful patterns are created using organic materials, live traditional music, South Asian treats, educational and cultural activities. Participants will have the opportunity to help build a community Rangoli guided by Aeilushi Mistry or a smaller version to take home.

Miriamm German leading a free tour for Flatiron/NoMad Partnership

The Flatiron NoMad Partnership, which provides free, year-round historic walking tours of the neighborhood, will offer special holiday-themed walking tours on three Sundays in December.

Attendees will learn about the Star of Hope, the country’s first public Christmas tree lighting, the international toy and gift center, and Dr. Clement Clarke Moore writing his famous Christmas poem, “A Visit From St. Nicholas” (commonly known as “The Night Before Christmas”) in his country home on 23rd Street in 1822.

The Inaugural Celebration of Dia de Muertos on the Flatiron Public Plaza November 2nd

 

 

 

On November 2, The Flatiron NoMad Partnership will host an inaugural celebration of Día de Muertos on the Flatiron North Public Plaza, with music, dance, interactive activities, food, and a community altar to honor and celebrate the lives of the departed. The free event will be presented in partnership with neighborhood businesses, including The Division of Continuing Education at the School of Visual Arts, Fotografiska, Poster House, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, and Mangia 23rd.

The Armory Show Announces Five Armory Off Site 2022 Locations in September

The Armory Show announces the public art installations of Armory Off­ Site, the second edition of the art fair’s outdoor art program that brings large-scale artworks to New York City’s parks and public spaces. Each work will be on view during the fair, which takes place at the Javits Center this September 9-11. Several Armory Off-Site installations will remain on view until late 2022.
