In 2015, Hudson Yards and its surrounding area looked like nothing more than an enormous construction site, with so many different projects, it was hard to separate one from the other. But in September of that year, the MTA completed and opened its #7 crosstown subway line to Hudson Yards, and the artwork alone could be a destination.
To raise awareness and funds for the critically endangered gorilla species, public artists Gillie and Marc have created a massive sculpture of the animal that will be unveiled later this month in Hudson Yards’ Bella Abzug Park. Titled King Nyani, Swahili for gorilla, it’s the world’s largest bronze gorilla sculpture.
Kick-off the New Year with the first-ever Open House, Meet at The Shedon January 11th, celebrating its opening season as it draws to a close. Meet at The Shed will feature special pop-up events and free admission to its current exhibitions.
