The Holidays are here, and the Nostalgia Train will once again offer NYC subway riders a chance to step aboard on November 27th, December 4th, December 11th and December 18th, 2022.

Local photographer Ken Lee created a wonderful video taking viewers back in time, for a ride on a City of New York Nostalgia Train.

Public Art Fund presents ‘Awol Erizku: New Visions for Iris’ on JCDecaux Bus Shelters across New York City & Chicago!

 

 

 

On February 24, Public Art Fund will debut New Visions for Iris, a 350-site photography exhibition by multidisciplinary artist Awol Erizku. On view at 200 JCDecaux bus shelters across New York City and 150 in Chicago, this is the first exhibition in Public Art Fund’s partnership with JCDecaux to be presented in two cities concurrently.

MTA Launches Living Memorial to Honor Transit Workers Lost to COVID-19

 

 

 

The global pandemic has led to unimaginable loss to the MTA family, with 136 employees dying of COVID-19 since the pandemic began. To honor and pay tribute to those who have been lost too soon, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority today launched an engaging visual memorial to those employees, heroes who dedicated their lives to moving New Yorkers through the city and region.

MTA’s Second Avenue Subway in East Harlem One Step Closer

 

 

 

Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center, 69 East 125th Street.

In anticipation of Phase 2 of the Second Avenue Subway, an MTA community information center with rotating exhibits is open to the public on East 125th Street, steps from the MTA Metro North Station, and halfway between the #2/3 and #4/5/6.

Update March 2023 ~ The Project is now out of the station “and heading on the track”…. Chuck Schumer. Feds willing to kick in $497 million to complete the next phase of the Second Avenue Subway, which will include three new stations at East 106th Street, East 116th Street, and East 125th Street. However, the federal money — which is now dependent on congressional approval as part of President Biden’s budget — will require matching funding from the MTA.

MTA will go back to the drawing board and rethink the size of platforms needed to serve the Q train, which is a good part of the staggering price tag for the extension.

MTA Arts & Design + Jackie Battenfield = A Beautiful New Installation

The Avenue P on the F Train in Brooklyn can look forward to a new MTA Arts & Design installation coming soon.  The 28 new laminated glass panels, created by artist Jackie Battenfield, will grace the stairways on the ground platform. The first 7 panels are ready for installation now.
