Celebrating Bastille Day 2018 on 60th Street

Bastille Day ~ also known as French National Day ~ commemorates the start of the French Revolution and the storming of the Bastille in Paris on July 14, 1789. The Celebration in New York always takes place on the weekend before July 14th. This year the annual celebrations will begin on Sunday, July 10th!

The Alliance Française’s Annual Street Fair and celebration of France’s independence day ~ Bastille Day ~ is our first stop. With the street blocked off to traffic on Madison Avenue from 59th to 63rd Streets, New Yorkers are free to eat, drink, shop and learn about the culture. The event will be held on Sunday, July 10th from Noon to 5:00pm.

Check the schedule of events, including the Champagne & Musette Party; Summer in the South of France Tasting; and Live Performances on the main stage at 59th Street and Madison Avenue from 12:35 to 5pm and more.

From our Archives ~ Bastille Day at 60th Street, NYC

The Annual Greater New York Citroën & Velosolëx Club Rally & Rendezvous. The vehicles will make pit stops at France-related landmarks around the city and will ultimately be parked, and on view in front of the FIAF Bastille Day Fair on Madison Avenue between 59th and 63rd Streets.

The L’ete 2022 Rally on Sunday, July 10th will start at 10:00 am on Riverside Drive South at 122nd Street (adjacent to Grants’ Tomb)., which is labeled ‘A’ on the 2022 Map below. Heading south, and cutting through Central Park at 86th Street, LaRoute will turn south on Fifth Avenue, heading to point ‘B’ on the map.

Labeled ‘B’ is a stop in front of the Consulate General of France on Fifth Avenue between 74th and 75th Streets.

Bastille Day 2018 on 59th Street

LaRoute 2022 will head south to East 14th Street (labeled ‘C’) and back up to Central Park West ~ through the Park at 66th Street, and south to 60th Street and Madison Avenue (labeled ‘D’), for the festivities held by The Alliance Francaise’s Annual Street Fair on Madison Avenue between 59th and 63rd Streets.

Don’t miss the Pétanque Tournament at Bar Tabac on July 10th. More than 70 teams will join in for the sport. Bar Tabac is located at 128 Smith Street in Brooklyn.

Bastille Day 2018 on 60th Street

Films on the Green Festival presented by Villa Albertine will take place from June 3 to September 9, 2022. This year’s edition of Films on the Green, with the theme “From Page to Screen,” spotlights 12 diverse and world-class literary adaptations, coming to 9 different parks across Manhattan and Brooklyn

The Hamptons Fine Art Fair is staged in a spectacular 40,000 square-foot pavilion on 17 acres.

On July 14, 2022, the Consulate General of France in New York invites you to an exceptional event in Central Park to celebrate Bastille Day.  The free celebration of the French national holiday will start at 6pm (doors will open at 5pm) on Thursday, July 14th at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park (72nd Street and 5th Avenue).

Attendees will embark French cultural and musical journey beginning with a French classical music repertoire performance by critically acclaimed musicians Virgil Boutellis (violin), Adams Leites (oboe) and Daniel Rafimayeri (violin). They will be joined on stage by New-York-based FlexN dancer Cal Hunt and hip-hop dancer Jai’Quin Coleman.

Following will be an exclusive production of the “Imaginary Cuckold” by the Molière in the Park theater organization. A fun, short, hilarious performance to celebrate the 400th year of Moliere’s birth.

Attendees will then get to enjoy a live Jazz performance led by renowned performer China Moses. With her band, the multi-talented artist will revisit some of the most beautiful French songs: La Vie en Rose, La Javanaise, J’ai Deux Amours, etc.

Next, the accomplished French electro-pop artist DeLaurentis will take the stage for a show combining tracks from her new album Unica and covers of Piaf, Gainsbourg, and many others!

The festival will end with the star DJ Joachim Garraud. Get ready to dance!

Carreau Club’s Annual ‘La Brooklynaise’ open Pétanque Tournament and Fete for Bastille Day Weekend

 In celebration of Bastille Day, Carreau Club is taking over the entire Courtyard at Industry City for the second annual “La Brooklynaise” open pétanque tournament and fête on Sunday, July 17th. The celebration welcomes those who are looking to play and those who are interested in spectating and enjoying some French food & beverage offerings. Food offerings will be supplied by Chefs Anthony Sousa & Conner Updegrave, Mothershuckers, and Ricard is popping up for a Pastis Patio. In addition, there will be DJs playing a collection of French music all afternoon.

 Each participating team will receive a gift bag with swag from Carreau Club, Industry City, and Ricard. Prizes and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in both brackets. Those who are interested in participating can register online on Carreau Club’s website.

This 2nd Annual ‘La Brooklynaise’ Open Pétanque Tournament and Fete for Bastille Day Weekend will be held on Sunday, July 17th at 11am at Industry City, courtyard 5/6, Carreau Club, 68 34th Street in Brooklyn.
