Celebrating New York ~ The Flag Project at Rockefeller Center

Rockefeller Center is celebrating New York with a temporary art installation of 193 flag images created by artists surrounding the Rink. The images conger up ways we celebrate the diverse culture, vibrant energy and strength of our City.

The call for artists generated over a thousand responses, from all across the globe. Each design was hand-crafted and expressed a true love for New York in an era of togetherness and human connection during this difficult time.

Faith Ringgold

“There are as many ways to celebrate the strength, vibrancy, and spirit of New York as there are people in our City. We are thrilled that so many emerging and acclaimed artists are taking part in The Flag Project, and we are excited to share all the original works in one place, surrounding the beloved skating rink at Rockefeller Center. Since it was built almost 90 years ago, the Center has been a place to honor our City and reaffirm our longstanding commitment to public art. We can’t wait to share these magnificent expressions of love and support with all New Yorkers.” -Rob Speyer, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tishman Speyer
