Daylight Saving Time Begins on Sunday, March 13 ~ It’s Time to Spring Forward

The historic Clock in the lobby of The Waldorf Astoria

Daylight Saving Time 2022 begins this weekend on Sunday, March 13 when clocks “spring forward” an hour, meaning we get one less hour of sleep overnight.

This particular clock graced the lobby of the Waldorf Astoria until it closed for renovations. It is a nine-foot-tall, two-ton World’s Fair Clock Tower from the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition in Chicago. The base of the clock is octagonal and holds eight commemorative plaques of presidents.

The Waldorf Astoria Clock Tower recently underwent a restoration and is on view at the New York Historical Society until the Waldorf renovations are complete.
