El Barrio in the ’80s by Photographer, Joseph Rodriguez ~ Book Launch at the Museum of the City of New York on December 12

On the heals of the opening reception of the documentary film, Joseph Rodriguez | Spanish Harlem: El Barrio in the ’80s at The Bronx Documentary Center, The Museum of the City of New York, in partnership with Union Settlement, will host a reception and book signing to celebrate the launch of the photographer’s new book, Spanish Harlem: El Barrio in the ’80s on December 12 from 6:30-8:30pm.

The Brooklyn-based photographer Joseph Rodriguez will discuss his experience photographing the neighborhood and the inspiration behind the images on Tuesday, December 12 from 6:30-8:30pm, followed by a reception and book signing.  The event will be located at The Museum of the City of New York, 1220 Fifth Avenue at 103rd Street.  Buy tickets.

About the documentary, which is still on view  ~  “Shot in the mid-to-late 80s, Joseph Rodriguez‘s superb photographs of East Harlem bring us into the core of the neighborhood, capturing a spirit of a people that survives despite the ravages of poverty, and more recently, the threat of gentrification and displacement.”

Joseph Rodriguez: Spanish Harlem, hosted by Bronx Documentary Center, will be on view to December 23, 2017 at The Bronx Documentary Center is located at 614 Courtland Avenue, Bronx.
