Kicking-off Memorial Day weekend with memories of summer’s past, and a new exhibit, ‘Endless Summer‘ by the artist Danny Galieote, opening at Joanne Artman Gallery on June 14th.

As part of a group of contemporary artists and writers with a revitalized interest in American regionalist history and art, Galieote’s new work is reminiscent of classic, vintage postcard imagery ~ “a blend of old-school charm of Norman Rockwell, with the unexpected twist of surrealist René Magritte.” It is also a perfect complement to his beginning days with Disney animation studios, hand drawing human figures as a character artist.
The American Regionalist art movement rose in the 1930s as a response to the Great Depression and was defined by a traditionalist realist style that appealed to popular American sensibilities of the time.” In this exhibit, the artist brings to life classic Americana in images.
Danny Galieote currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

‘Endless Summer‘ will open on June 14th with a Reception from 6-8pm (please RSVP by June 7th, 949-510-5481) at Joanne Artman Gallery, 511A West 22nd Street, NYC.
