Governors Island will be open to the public for passive recreation activities beginning July 15, 2020. Starting that day, the Island will be open from 10AM to 6PM on weekdays and 10AM to 7PM on weekends.

In order to allow social distancing, visitors must reserve tickets in advance in order to board. Vendors offering food and beverages will be available upon reopening. All Governors Island vendors will comply with the latest foodservice guidelines and adhere to health and safety plans that minimize person-to-person contact, emphasize hygiene, and allow for social distancing in serving areas.
Governors Island will launch a number of health, safety and social distancing protocols upon reopening to ensure a safe environment for all visitors, a new ticket reservation system to manage capacity on ferries.
Capacity on Governors Island ferries will be limited during the 2020 season to allow for social distancing. Visitors must reserve tickets in advance through a new ticket reservation system. Tickets will be available beginning Friday 7/10 at 10AM. See more info here. Visitors must depart the Island on their assigned return ferry time selected when purchasing tickets.
Manhattan ferries will run daily from the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South St. Brooklyn ferries will run from the Red Hook/Atlantic Basin ferry terminal. There will be no Brooklyn ferries from Pier 6 at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
NYC Ferry service will offer additional connections to Governors Island with a dedicated weekend shuttle from Wall Street/Pier 11 that will operate approximately every 30 minutes beginning July 18th. Tickets are $2.75 or by free transfer from any NYC Ferry route. Visitors traveling to Governors Island via NYC Ferry are encouraged to depart Governors Island using NYC Ferry.
