Herman Leonard: The Rhythm of Old New York on view at Robert Mann Gallery in Chelsea to October 14

Herman Leonard’s illustrious career included becoming Marlon Brando’s personal photographer in the 1950s, and a correspondent for Playboy and Times magazines. His passion for Jazz brought him into Clubs from 52nd Street to Harlem, developing friendships along the way with such renowned jazz figures as Charlie Parker, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, and Dizzy Gillespie whose 100th Birthday will be celebrated in Harlem on October 21st.

The exhibit, Herman Leonard: The Rhythm of Old New York is a window into a magical time in American Jazz history, when Leonard worked out of a studio in Greenwich Village, taking thousands of images.

The exhibit, Herman Leonard: The Rhythm of Old New York, will be on view at Robert Mann Gallery, 525 West 26th Street, to October 14, 2017.
