It’s a Party ~ Garment District Arts Festival Oct. 18-20

It’s party time!

The Garment District Alliance is proud to present the 15th Annual Garment District Arts Festival, a district-wide celebration of the artists, performers, galleries and theaters that contribute to the creative energy that fuels this neighborhood. Join the Garment District Alliance for an Opening Reception on Broadway ~ and a Light Hug and photo by artist Vicki DaSilva!

The Garment District Arts Festival takes place October 18-20, with a Festival Kick-Off Reception on Thursday, October 18 from 6-8pm in the Lobby of 10 Times Square (1441 Broadway). Visit the 2018 Arts Festival Website garment district.nyc/arts/arts-festival for the most up to date festival information.

Make a behind the scenes visit to artists’ studios, view a unique installation (like our district-wide Art Elevated), enjoy the creative talents of crafters and artisans in our Makers Way exhibit on Broadway, or tour our numerous galleries. It’s all part of the 2018 Garment District Arts Festival.

This year, Garment District Alliance is partnering with ZAZ10TS, showing artworks at 10 Times Square and 1410 Broadway, with an opportunity to meet-the-artists.

Light Hug and photo by Vicki DaSilva

Vicki DaSilva will create on-site time-exposure light painting portrait photographs entitled Light Hug in front of the SL Gallery at 335 W 38th Street. Participants can expect to be wrapped in light as Vicki uses her signature tool of an eight-foot fluorescent lamp to create these portraits in under two minutes. Stop by, celebrate the closing of Lumen Lineation, have a glass of wine and get your Light Hug photo taken next Thursday, October 18th from 7:00-9:00pm.

Festival-goers will be surrounded by a parade of twenty giant candy sculptures, the Garment District Alliance Fall/Winter installation, Candy Nation by artist Laurence Jenkell.

While you’re there, enjoy the Garment District Alliance Space for Public Art Program showcasing three artists in three Garment District locations ~ and don’t forget to look up ~ at Art Elevated.
