The  Pittsburgh-born, Baltimore-based artist, James Rieck, is returning to the Lyons Wier Gallery with his solo exhibit, Rapture.

Rieck, who is on the Faculty of both the Maryland Institute College of Art and the Washington, D.C. Corcoran College of Art + Design, has a rich and vibrant interpretation of vintage images. His large-format paintings capture models in the clothing and style of advertisements of the past – without their faces. “I don’t focus on the face in my paintings…..I bring the attention to the unspoken body language of the models, and their accouterments.” “We know clothes are used to cover us up – they always tell us about what we are hiding from ourselves and each other.”  A thoughtful perspective on the way we view portraiture and each other.

He is also showing at the Josua Liner Gallery in the group exhibit When We Were Young, through October 7, 2017.
