John Giorno: Perfect Flowers opening at Elizabeth Dee Gallery
September 19 to November 4, 2017
This past summer, the city-wide exhibition entitled Ugo Rondinone: I ♥ John Giorno celebrated the life and work of the renowned poet, artist and activist in thirteen locations, with films, drawing, archival presentations, paintings, and sound installations. It was a glorious retrospective of Giorno’s work as a sequel to the 2015 exhibition at Palais de Tokyo.
Now, looking forward, the Elizabeth Dee Gallery will present John Giorno’s latest work – twenty-five original compositions – in the exhibition Perfect Flowers, opening September 20th. This will be the largest overview to date of new work by Giorno, and will occupy the entire space, two full floors within the Gallery. Over two-years in the making, the exhibition will include new paintings, small and intimate graphic works on paper in two site-specific installations, and watercolors.
John Giorno: Perfect Flowers at Elizabeth Dee Gallery, with opening reception on Tuesday, September 19 from 6-8pm, and on view to November 4, 2017. Elizabeth Dee Gallery is located at 2033/2037 Fifth Avenue, at 126th Street.
