This summer, La Sirena will be setting up shop at Chelsea Market for a pop-up marketplace featuring museum-quality Mexican Folk art through November 2, 2021. La Sirena “The Mermaid,” is known for their unique, traditional merchandise and whimsical, collectable folk art from many regions of  Mexico. According to owner and creator Dina Leor, La Sirena can be described as “a museum where you can buy things.”

Everything you’ll find at La Sirena is uniquely handmade by another human being. Much of the work on display is crafted by families whose traditions have been handed down from generation to generation. Featured items for purchase include Talavera pottery; Magical Alebrijes (hand-carved and painted wooden animals) from Oaxaca, Mexico; traditional embroidered clothing from Chiapas, Oaxaca, Puebla and Tlaxcala; hand-woven baskets; unique t-shirts; and many more.

Additionally, La Sirena plans on hosting cultural events with folkloric dance, traditional music, art demonstrations, and food made by families in the community. Programming to be announced later in the summer.

Find La Sirena at Chelsea Market beginning Thursday, July 29th through November 2, 2021. Chelsea Market is located 75 Ninth Avenue, NYC

  1. I discovered this fantastic Mexican Arts and Crafts store today, 8/27/2021. It’s absolutely great. The products are well made and just beautiful. The manager and salesperson are friendly, very helpful without being pushy. It was a pleasure to shop there. I will definitely return.
