Lamb~scaping at the Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Mulberry Street

It’s billed as a Vacation, but the annual selection of the ‘winners’ for this vacation are actually eating and fertilizing the grass in and around the cemetery every September. Come and meet Houston, Prince and Spring.

Two of the winning sheep are scene lounging up against the brick wall

It’s not easy to get a picture of the three winners, since they spend much of their time lounging in the shade between the tombstones. They are visiting, on loan from Buckwheat Bridge Farm in Elizaville during the month of September.

This tradition began in 2014, when the church’s long-time lawn-mower announced his retirement. The Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral is located at 260 Mulberry Street in Nolita.
