Love, Loss and Longing, a solo exhibition by BD White has been one year in the making. The twenty-four images created for this exhibition depict “man as his most lonely and distant self” ~ an astronaut in outer space in “multiple states of movement, sometimes alone, sometimes entwined in a tragic embrace with a female form,” or so is quoted by the artist. It could be that rather than depicting “a lonely and distant self,” this talented, wheelchair bound, artist is creating free-floating images, that explore worlds beyond our own man-made boundaries and imagination. Each of these hand-drawn stencil paintings is well over 50 layers, running to as many as 91 layers.
Mr. White, a Brooklyn-based artist, has shown his work in installations in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, and at Art Basel in Miami. He was part of Graffiti in the Sky at 4 World Trade Center, where his piece ‘Beautiful Loss’ was a test of this new technique.

In addition to the twenty-four original works on view, check out the life-sized statue of an astronaut, along with four original collaboration works, and a limited number of limited edition screen prints. Much more on BD White and this exhibit in Brooklyn Street Art.
