Panorama – Nicholas Buffon’s Slice of New York

The Stonewall Inn, 2017 – Kat’s Delicatessen, 2017

Continuing to pay homage to contemporary American cities, four of Nicholas Buffon’s dioramas are part of The Jewish Museum’s exhibit, The Arcades: Contemporary Art and Walter Benjamin. These intricately detailed slices of the New York landscape are described as “panoramas of the unspectacular,” but to a New Yorker, they are familiar and endearing – quite spectacular, in all their familiar, exquisite detail.

Nicholas Buffon is one of many participating artists in the exhibit The Arcades: Contemporary Art and Walter Benjamin. His dioramas will be on view at the Jewish Museum to August 6, 2017, located at Fifth Avenue and 92nd Street. Free admission on Saturday.
