The theme of this summer camp is exploring the unseen world around us. How does life exist and flourish in an urban environment?
Working side-by-side with Ph.D. scientists, students will design and build a device designed to sample the organisms along the urban shoreline of New York City. Students will collect and observe some of the diverse creatures living in the Hudson River. Additionally, students will monitor the pollinators in local gardens and discover their role in urban ecosystems. Using $35,000+ university-grade microscopes, students will identify the organisms they find and better understand of the complex web of life that exists even in the most urban setting.
