Harlem Havana Photo & Art Exhibit 2018 ~ August 6th

Harlem Havana Photo & Art Exhibit 2018 is an international exhibit featuring 30 intergenerational artists and photographers who honor the unique and storied history of two iconic and diverse communities — Harlem and Havana. In an eclectic mix of styles and mediums each artist reveals the diverse legacies, the common bonds and humanity that connect us all.

The exhibit celebrates Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Brazil, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Mexico and Harlem and is part of the annual event, Harlem Havana.

Featured Artists include Diogenes Ballester, Tau Battice, Élan Cadiz, Paul Deo, Marcos Dimas, John Jennings and Stacy Robinson, Leslie Jimenez, Black Kirby, Max Samiento, Tanya Torres, Nitza Tufiño, Shawn Walker, Coronado Print Studio Artists: Manuel Acevedo, Pepe Coronado, Carlos Jesus Martinez Dominguez, Marquita Flowers, Leslie Jimenez, Rejyn Leys, Yelaine Rodriquez, and COCO144.

Featured Cuban artists are Alazo (Alejandro Lazo), Choco (Eduardo Sálazar), Sandra Dooley, Gorría (Jorge Perugorría), Nicolás Lara, Clara Morera, Mederox (José Mederos Sigler), Mendive (Manual Mendive), Olazábal (Santiago Olazábal Rodríguez) José Aguilera Vicente, and Elio Vilva.

Community Works NYC, Center for Cuban Studies, Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, Harlem Arts Alliance, Harlem Week and New Heritage Theatre Group in partnership with the Harlem Hospital Center invite you to a special artist reception for HARLEM HAVANA 2018 with Latin Music Performances by local and international musicians.

Harlem Havana Photo & Art Exhibit 2018 is curated by Community Works’ Barbara Horowitz and guest curator Élan Cadiz.

Opening Reception for Harlem Havana Photo & Art Exhibit 2018: Meet The Artists will be held on Monday, August 6 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Harlem Hospital Murall Pavilion, 512 Lenox Avenue at 135th Street. The exhibition will be on view from August 6 to October 30, 2018.
