Harlem is…Spirit of Community ~ March 6

 

History and art come alive in Harlem with a new, free, public SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY visual art exhibition opening Wednesday, March 6.. This unique installation will display photography, artwork and poetry by Harlem-based artists reflecting their views of community and defining identity, highlighting Harlem’s storied contributions. Artists include photographers Shawn Walker, Tau Battice, Ruth Morgan and David Vades Joseph and painters Bryan Collier, Paul Deo, Jason Auguste and Tanya Torres; photographs and writing from the collection, “While We Are Still Here.”/Karen Taylor; prose from Daniel Carleton, Karen Taylor and Willie Perdomo. Photos of 2003 East Harlem from the landmark Latin Roots exhibit will be shown.
