Get ready for the 49th Annual African American Day Parade on Sunday, September 16th! This year’s theme ~ Culture is Key ~ honoring individuals and organizations that have made key contributions to further the dignity, determination and excellent of African American Community & Culture in the fields of dance, theater, music, movies, film, television, broadcasting, literature, fashion, technology, sports + more.
This year’s Grand Marshals will include Arthur Mitchell, Founder of Dance Theatre of Harlem ~ Cheryl Wills, Veteran Anchor for Spectrum New NY1 ~ Tom Joyner, of Tom Joyner Morning Show Radio 103.9 ~ Ann Tripp, News Director for SBLS & WLIB ~ and Doug E. Fresh, Hip-Hop Artist.
Viewing Stand will be located in front of the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building, with VIP seating for seniors of the community. The parade will be broadcast live on Radio 103.9, and 107.5 WBLS will be there showing their support.
The 49th Annual African American Day Parade will be held on Sunday, September 16th, from 1:00 to 6:00pm, with the parade route beginning at 111th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd, marching to 136th Street. The Event will take place from 1:00-5:00pm.
