If it’s Spring, you know it’s time for the Salmagundi Auction. This year, over 200 original works of art, including 20 historic works from Salmagundi Club archive collection will be offered.
Salmagundi auctions have operated continuously since the late 1870’s. “With starting prices as low as $150, all set at 30% of typical gallery prices, this is a unique opportunity to own a piece of American art history”, says Nick Dawes, Salmagundi Chairman who acts as live auctioneer.
The auction will be held in two-parts ~ Friday, April 8th at 8pm, and an afternoon session on Saturday,, April 9th at Noon. Both auctions will be jointly presented by Roland auctions, a well respected local family auction business. “We are honored and delighted to be helping Salmagundi Club with this historic event”, said William Roland, company founder and President.
All of the works offered in this auction are by Salmagundi members. A unique addition is the Judy Daniele Marsh bequest of thirty paintings, most purchased 20 years ago and recently donated in memory of Judy who loved and patronized the club. Bidders will also have the opportunity to bid on commissions for portraits, still life and architectural paintings from leading artists.
The Salmagundi Spring Auction works will be on view in the Skylight gallery from March 21 through April 9, 2022 at The Salmagundi Club, 47 Fifth Avenue, between 11th/12th Streets, NYC. Admission to the club and Skylight gallery is free.
