AFA Gallery will open its doors to a collection of new works by vinyl artist, painter, and muralist Stickymonger. This exhibition of 15 paintings on canvas is a departure from the artist’s pre- vious monumental vinyl works, which have been the hallmarkof her public art installations in New York City ~ such as her stunning work in a group exhibit we call Graffiti in the Sky on the 69th floor of 4 World Trade, and her very visible work opposite The Oculus, entitled The Mural Project.

In her current exhibit, Searching for Something That Isn’t There, Stickymonger explores a new medium ~ water-based spray paint ~ and a unique painting technique which has transformed the artist’s line from the clean, crisp style she is known for, to a more spontaneous, abstract line, making the work unpredictable and full of expression. The work’s subject matter, enhanced by this new medium, depicts frosty environments and cozy characters bundled up in the midst of winter ~ her favorite season.

Stickymonger is currently working in a studio space at the World Trade Center, a location which has also served as a canvas for her work. The space has been sponsored by the World Trade Center.
