Bring material innovation to life with a unique environmental design studio based at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Our in-person, pre-college summer courses equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to build a new green future while opening up new study and career pathways. All programs are open to rising 10th graders to graduating seniors, as well as exceptional rising 9th graders!
This unique program meets for morning seminars & afternoon studio. Morning seminar focuses on the history, theory and practice of socio-ecological design. Students develop their projects through an interdisciplinary bio-design process and problem-solve in their own R&D process. Through discussion with faculty and guests industry leaders help students see themselves as future designers and innovators.

In afternoon studio, students visualize their ideas through drawings and building models and prototypes. They also learn to grow biomaterials such as mycelium and wheatgrass (among others) from scratch. The final afternoon is a studio crit with professional guest critics. Students leave with a digital portfolio and an evaluation that can be used for college applications.
