The month of March is filled with excitement, from the opening of the Grey Art Museum in Cooper Square to The Whitney Biennial and Love Rocks NYC concert at The Beacon Theatre in support of Gods Love We Deliver. Fund for Park Avenue will unveil sculpture installations along the median by two artists, and Théâtre de la Dame de Coeur will parade giant puppets on the Plaza at Lincoln Center. The exhibitions ‘Remarkable Women‘ at Eldridge Street Museum and ‘Present in the Modern World‘ at Art Lives Here will add to a plethora of Women’s History Month exhibitions and events. The annual Night of Ideas will be presented by Villa Albertine, Centre Pompidou and Hudson County Community College. Adding to the list, The Affordable Art Fair, and St. Patrick’s Day and all its festivities.

There is no better place to be during the Holiday Season than New York. Young or old, there is something for everyone. From Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn to the annual Winer Glow in the Flatiron District or Night Market in the historic La Marqueta in East Harlem. Head over to Chelsea Market where ARTECHOUSE will introduce you to the World of AI-Magination. Take a ride on the Nostalgia Train to the Annual Open Streets on Fifth Avenue or Freedom Plaza where Bruce Munro lights up the night! But let’s begin the month in recognition and celebration of lives past, December 1st, World AIDS Day. Here are a few suggestions for the month of December.

Let’s kick-off the Fall Season with a few annual favorites ~ The Blessing of the Animals; The Atlantic Antic™ Festival; Archtober & Open House New York; The Little Red Lighthouse Festival, NYCxDesign, Art in Odd Places; The Paper Dress Ball, and The New Yorker Festival. We expect beautiful Fall weather for the LES Arts & Culture Open House, First Thursday in DUMBO, and the Madison Avenue Fall Gallery Walk. The Apollo Theater ushers in a Festival of Arts & Ideas, and Trashion Fashion finally gets to strut its stuff in Morningside Park. October brings with it a much anticipated Triangle Fire Memorial dedication as well as a plethora of new gallery exhibitions, including a hardy welcome to White Cube NYC, opening its doors on Madison Avenue. Here are a few suggestions, ending with one of our favorite annual celebrations ~ Halloween.

Sailing into Fall, September kicks-off with the annual Armory Show and Armory Art Week, and a plethora of exciting exhibitions and events all around town. Public Art Fund unveils Fred Eversley: Parabolic Light at the Doris C. Freedman Plaza, and Little Italy hosts the annual Feast of San Gennaro.  Lincoln Center hosts its 61st New York Film Festival and The West Side Cultural Network installs its inaugural West Side Fest! Morningside Park in Harlem holds a Trashion Fashion Show and its fun and colorful annual Morningside Lights event. Museums and galleries open their doors to exciting new exhibitions, as our city never loses sight of our loss on 9/11. Here are a few suggestions for the month of September.

It’s Summer in NYC! Step into MoMA’s Sculpture Garden, or visit the ‘Summer on Broadway‘ activities & events in the Garment District. Alvin Ailey Moves NYC will perform in Staten Island, the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan; Save the dates for the annual NYC DOT Summer Streets; Great Jazz on the Great Hill in Central Park and The Charlie Parker Jazz Festival. Finally, in August we celebrate the accomplishments of women on Women’s Equality Day.

There are plenty of exciting outdoor activities and art installations ‘Still on View’ like Lauren Halsey on The Met Roof Garden, Bharti Kher: Ancestor on Doris C. Freedman Plaza; Mary Mattingly at Socrates Sculpture Park; Shadows in Bella Abzug Park; Nicholas Galanin in Brooklyn Bridge Park; PRANK in City Hall Park; Carole Feuerman’s Sea Idylls on Park Avenue; My Neighbors Garden in Madison Square Park; Works in Public in Riverside Park; The Girl Puzzle on Roosevelt Island; and take a spin with the newly refurbished Astor Place Alamo CUBE.

April brings with it several important exhibitions & shows that began on the last day of March like AIPAD, The Photography Show, Sarah Sze and Gego, Luminous Elsewheres at Westbeth, and CENTRO + Hunter East Harlem Gallery, among others.

The much anticipated LGDR Flagship Headquarters opens, The MET Roof Garden, Hispanic Society of America and Ford Foundation reopen; MoMA presents Georgia O’Keeffe; Gagosian presents Helen Frankenthaler; Hauser & Wirth presents Mark Bradford; Acquavella Galleries presents Bonnard; NoMAA holds its inaugural exhibition in its new space in the historic United Palace ~ And the Lucy G. Moses Preservation Awards are announced. In the end, we will celebrate Holi and Easter, ~ and a parade on Fifth Avenue ~ as we stroll into April. Here are a few suggestions.

November brings with it some of our favorite annual events ~ this year, in-person. Canstruction will raise money for City Harvest; The Art Show will raise money for Henry Street Settlement; The Macy’s Day Thanksgiving Parade, NYBG Holiday Train Show and LuminoCity Festival kick-off a festive holiday season. Art House will open its doors, along with a plethora of new exhibitions too numerous to mention. Here are a few suggestions for art installations, exhibits and events not to miss in November.
