The Art Students League of New York in partnership with NYC Parks’ Art in the Parks program and the Riverside Park Conservancy is proud to announce two new large-scale artworks by League artists Sophie Kahn and Marco Palli as part of the 2023 Works in Public program. The sculptures will be unveiled in a public ceremony at Riverside Park in Manhattan on November 9 and remain on view through August 2024. The 2023 Works in Public program also includes two works by League artists Helen Draves and Susan Markowitz Meredith, unveiled in July and now on view at Riverside Park South through July 2024. The unveiling ceremony will take place on Thursday, November 9, 3–4pm at 145th Street and Riverside.
The Art Students League’s League at Large program is proud to present MYTHOS at The Painting Center from January 3-28, 2023. Guest Curated by Clintel Steed, the group exhibition explores visual artists as storytellers. Bringing together work by seventeen artists who study at the League, the exhibition features a variety of disciplines in works inspired by classical mythology, legend, and global folklore. Tackling themes of love, discovery, and metamorphosis, MYTHOS shows how the tales that define our past can also populate our present.
The Art Students League of New York is proud to present the annual Final Project Exhibition, curated by The League’s 2022 Curator-at-Large, Jillian Russo. Featuring the work of artists who have recently completed The League’s four-year Certificate Program, the Final Project Exhibition offers graduating students the opportunity to present a cohesive body of work that represents their selected discipline. This year’s exhibition, on view at the Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery from June 9-25,2022, includes work by the six 2022 Certificate Program Graduates: Agnes Collins Hunt, Guada Luz Cruz, Kumi Hirose, Lola de Miguel, Mayumi Nakao, and Lau Nató.
