On Thursday, November 30th, the Garment District Alliance (GDA) and The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts (EFA) will hold a special ceremony to unveil Cracked Ice by renowned artist Del Geist – a series of three towering structures made of stone and stainless steel titled Laurentide, Muir and Champlain that represent erratic boulders being held by immense ice-age glaciers. The free installation will invite viewers to reflect on the dynamic forces of nature and profound impact of climate change and will be located on the Broadway plazas in the Garment District between 39th and 40th Streets through March 2024.

A monumental, majestic steel whale will grace Broadway in the heart of Midtown Manhattan in the Garment District, as the Garment District Alliance will unveil its latest interactive public art display titled Echoes – A Voice from Uncharted Waters on Thursday (9/14). With its captivating sound and light effects, the 55-foot-long installation invites viewers to reflect on the impact of everyday activities on nature and the environment. Located on the Broadway plazas in the Garment District between 38th and 39th Streets, Echoes – A Voice from Unchartered Waters is free and will be available to the public through November 13.
From public art installations to live performances and fresh lemonade, New Yorkers and visitors will be able to experience a diverse mix of free community programs in the heart of Midtown Manhattan in the Garment District this summer, as the Garment District Alliance (GDA) unveils its Summer on Broadway lineup for 2023.
The fabulous summer festivities will take place on Broadway between 39thand 40th Street from 12 – 2PM on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
The Garment District Alliance is providing young artists with a platform to shine as part of its latest public art exhibit, Sparkling Garden. Featuring 30 mixed-media works, the installation is a collaborative effort by children and staff at the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE), through workshops held by artist Chelsea Hrynick Browne.
