TEFAF New York 2022 returns to The Park Avenue Armory with artworks ranging in styles, eras, cultures, and mediums from 91 dealers ~ 78 returning dealers, and 13 dealers who are exhibiting for the first time. The dealers represent 14 countries and will be presented in the soaring 55,000 square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall, along with the first and second floors.
Below are a few of the highlights.
Robilant + Vena will present Piglet Goes Shopping by Keith Haring. The work is the ultimate expression of Haring’s singular aesthetic and of his activist spirit.
Galerie Karsten Greve AG will present a work by Cy Twombly, one of the foremost representatives of the international avant-garde since the rise of Abstract Expressionism in New York.
Sean Kelly will present a recent work by Kehinde Wiley. The artist engages the signs and visual rhetoric of the heroic, powerful, majestic, and sublime in his representation of black and brown men found throughout the world.
Van de Weigh will feature a 1963 work by Pablo Picasso. This oil on canvas painting is a stunning example of a later work by the renowned artist.
Beck & Eggeling will present a work on canvas by Anselm Kiefer, the German painter and sculptor. This work began in the late 1980s and represents a departure from Kiefer’s engagement with the hitherto dominant theme of German identity.
TEFAF New York was founded in early 2016, originally as two annual art fairs in New York at the Park Avenue Armory – TEFAF New York Fall and TEFAF New York Spring. Today, TEFAF New York is one singular, annual fair that encapsulates modern and contemporary art, jewelry, antiques, and design, featuring around 90 leading exhibitors from around the globe. Tom Postman Design, celebrated for its innovative work with leading museums, galleries, and art fairs, has developed designs for the fairs that interplay with the spectacular spaces while giving them a lighter, contemporary look and feel. Exhibitor stands will flow throughout the Armory’s landmark building encompassing the Wade Thompson Drill Hall and extending to both the first and second floors of the Armory’s period rooms, creating a fair of unprecedented depth and impact in New York City.
TEFAF is a not-for-profit foundation that champions expertise and diversity in the global art community, evidenced in the exhibitors selected for its two fairs, which take place annually in Maastricht and New York. TEFAF acts as an expert guide for both private and institutional collectors, which inspires lovers and buyers of art everywhere.
TEFAF New York 2022 will be on view from May 6-10, with VIP Day on May 5th, located at the Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue at 66th Street, NYC.
