The 13th Annual Stan Michels Memorial Jazz Concert will take place on Saturday, July 31st in Fort Tryon Park to honor the late New York City Council Member, Stan Michels.

The event, which runs from 12:30pm to 3:30pm, will feature local impresario, Marjorie Eliot, her son Rudel Drears, and their ensemble, and will take place on the Stan Michels Promenade, overlooking the Hudson River.
Stan Michels represented Northern Manhattan in the City Council for 24 years from 1978 through 2001. He was a steadfast advocate for parks, allocating over $50 million for park improvements in Washington Heights, Inwood, and Harlem, including nearly every playground in his district. The promenade was named in his honor shortly before he passed away on August 1, 2008.

The Event is presented by the Fort Tryon Park Trust, and is free and open to the public. While you’re there, walk over to view Fort Tryon Park’s latest temporary art installation, Zaq Landsberg: Tomb Effigy of Margaret Corbin, located on the upper plaza of David Rockefeller Linden Terrace in Fort Tryon Park (on view through June 12, 2022).
