The 2024 East Harlem Open Studios set for June 22-23

The second annual East Harlem Open Studios will be held on Saturday, June 22nd and Sunday, June 23rd, 2024 from 1:00 ~ 6:00pm. This self-guided tour will take you from the artist live/work space, El Barrio’s Artspace on East 99th Street to the studio of artist Airco Caravan on 119th Street. This is an chance to meet the artists, see their studios, and explore East Harlem.

It is also the last weekend for the popular La Marqueta eatery, Amuse Busch Bistro, which will be open on Saturday, June 22nd, closing at days end on Sunday, June 23rd.

The extraordinary bakery, Pabade, will also be open during East Harlem Open Studios ~ a work of art in their own right, Pabade is a sponsor of this event, located at 135 East 110th Street, just West of Lexington Avenue.

Kicking off the Open Studios tour, the artist live/work space, El Barrio Artspace. 215 East 99th Street at El Barrio’s Artspace, Lower-Level Gallery for the exhibition, Art Lives Here: Layers of Identity, a group exhibition with Pauline Galiana, Hollie Heller, Joanne Steinhardt.

The historic La Marqueta, 1590 Park Avenue, 115th Street: a Pop-up exhibition, Lynn Lieberman (GothamToGo), the original watercolor paintings of the East Harlem Map, the historic firehouse home to CCCADI, The Central Park Map, and The Museum of the City of New York. In addition,  Artist-in-residence, Carmen Ayala in her new location within La Marqueta.

2183 Third Avenue #1003 at 119th Street: Artist Airco Caravan

The artist Airco Caravan will open her studio, located at East 119th Street.

Open Studios ends at East 119th Street, just a few blocks short of the busy, and ever changing East 125th Street ~ a work in progress and future home of the Second Avenue Subway.

Along the way, take a look at The Graffiti Hall of Fame on East 106th Street and Park Avenue.

Keith Haring’s ‘Crack is Wack’ can be found in East Harlem at 128th Street on Harlem River Drive (Second Avenue).

Just a note ~ The Museum of the City of New York, Africa Center, and El Museo del Barrio are all in the neighborhood, along Fifth Avenue between 103rd Street and 110th Street.
