The 39th Annual Mermaid Parade has been CANCELLED. Announced today, the Officers and Directors of Coney Island USA stated that it is with great sadness that they will be canceling for the second year in a row due to the uptick in COVID.
Did you know that The Mermaid Parade is the largest art parade in New York City? Founded in 1983, it originally had three goals ~ to bring mythology to life on the very streets named for the mystical creatures with names like Mermaid and Neptune ~ bring life (and self-esteem) to a district that is the last stop on the subway ~ and give local artists a venue for self-expression. It has become one of the most popular Events of the year.
