The Downtown Alliance is lighting up the lower Manhattan with the colorful interactive art trail, Prismatica beginning March 15, 2019.

Follow the twenty-five kaleidoscopes to three privately owned public plazas (POPS) that include 75 Wall Street, 77 Water Street and 32 Old Slip.
Prismatica is a collection of interactive prisms, each standing 76″ tall covered in a dichroic film that reflects all the colors of the rainbow, depending on the light and viewing angle. After sunset, internal projectors will light up the interactive kaleidoscope and give the project an additional dimension.

“This art installation, made up of lovely light prisms, should brighten up Water Street during a particularly grey time of year,” said Downtown Alliance President Jessica Lappin.
Prismatica will be on view from March 15 through April 21, 2019, presented by the Alliance for Downtown New York. Creation and Execution by RAW Design in collaboration with ATOMIC3, who you might recognize from the recent Garment District Alliance installation, ICEBERG.
Oops…what a mistake! I saw it in Montreal. They have an annual light festival with so many incredible things to see on the street and on buildings.
An image of the Montreal installation is in this post.
I saw this installation in Toronto and it’s wonderful.
