Art Elevated three Grand Prize Winners!

The Garment District Alliance in partnership with Orangenius will have New Yorkers looking up for their new exhibition entitled Art Elevated, an aerial display of the works of artists from around the world, located high up on banners throughout the Garment District.

More than 500 submissions were received from artists in over 20 different countries! and out of these, 90 winners were selected by a jury, with 3 selected as Grand Prize Winners.  Artist Joseph Klibansky of the Netherlands received the first place award and will have his work featured on numerous printed and online marketing materials for the 15th annual Garment District Arts Festival taking place October 18th through October 20th. He also received an ImageRights Ascent annual membership as well as a cash award. New York City-based artist Zeren Badar earned the second place award while Borzu Ravan, who resides in Brooklyn, was recognized with the third place award.

Second Place went to Zeren Badar with “Very First Accident,”  and Third Place to  Borzu Ravan with “Illustration.”

“As we continue to find new ways to bring art into the public realm of the Garment District, this unique competition showcases the work of tremendously talented artists both locally and from across the globe,” said Barbara A. Blair, president of the Garment District Alliance. “The exceptional artworks rendered in this unusual format aesthetically enhance the urban environment. We have elevated the art and we encourage both New Yorkers and visitors to experience how the art elevates the neighborhood.”

“Orangenius is so thrilled to have partnered with the Garment District Alliance in this extraordinary program. We believe art fosters a common language and it unites us,” said Grace Cho, Orangenius chief executive officer and founder. “Open calls like Art Elevated bring together great artists from all points of the globe and help them showcase their tremendous works in the most glamorous way. On behalf of the artists, Orangenius applauds the Garment District Alliance for having the vision to embrace the fact that art makes life better and it uplifts the human spirit.”

The artworks displayed in Art Elevated were selected by jurors Melanie Vote of the New York Academy, Jerry Weiss of the Art Students League, Grace Cho of Orangenius, and Barbara Blair of the Garment District Alliance.

Art Elevated is expected to be viewed 21 million times, as New Yorkers and people from around the world are drawn to the Garment District as a destination for dining, retail and entertainment.
