The James Beard Foundation to Host Taste NYC at Market 57 on February 27th

The James Beard Foundation® announces Taste America will return to New York City with an exciting walk-around tasting on February 27 at Pier 57’s Market 57 food hall. Presented by Capital One, the national Taste America culinary series celebrates the local independent restaurants at the heart of our communities, bringing together chefs and food lovers for unique culinary experiences in 20 cities across the United States. Through a “TasteTwenty” cohort of chef teams—the series also spotlights culinary talent who are uniquely leading the industry forward.

The NYC event will take place at Market 57, the newly launched food hall celebrating the culinary and cultural diversity of New York City’s local independent food culture—with over a dozen kiosks curated by Jamestown, with input from the James Beard Foundation. Market 57 is also home to Platform by JBF—a state-of-the-art show kitchen, event space, and educational hub for culinary arts programming that brings to life the Foundation’s Good Food for Good® mission.

The walk-around tasting will feature special bites from TasteTwenty host chef Ayo Balugon of James Beard Award nominee Dept of Culture in Brooklyn, NY as well as TasteTwenty guest chefs Michelle Karr-Ueoka (James Beard Award semifinalist) and Wade Ueoka of MW Restaurant and Artizen by MW in Honolulu, HI—in addition to delicious food stations from the Market 57 kiosks. The exciting gathering will also include:

Each station’s offering will reflect the chef’s signature style and highlight the uniqueness of their  culinary contribution to the community. The tasting will feature DJ Hesta Prynn as well as activations from national and local sponsors, including Capital One, Force & Grace, Mijenta Tequila, Saratoga Spring Water, TABASCO, The Calling, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Urbani Truffles USA

Located within Hudson River Park at West 15th Street, Pier 57 is a year-round community destination that celebrates New York City’s culinary and cultural diversity. It includes plentiful public open and community spaces, both indoors and outdoors, where visitors can gather for a waterfront experience filled with food, art, culture, nature, and more.
