The Oslo Freedom Forum Will Take Place in New York September 19 ~ The Human Rights Foundation and Art In Protest bring Creative Dissent to Chelsea September 20-21.

The first Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) in New York will take place on September 19 at New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, in a one-day version of the annual Norwegian event.  OFF, which is a global community of people who share a vision of making the world a more peaceful, prosperous and free place, will begin the day with an interactive expo, exploring projects and products related to human rights. They may extent from technology to a fashion show (on September 14) (Wear your values), an art exhibit (by Art in Protest) and media.  The organization, Committee to Protect Journalists, will take viewers inside an infamous Iranian prison; and examples of new tools used in citizen journalism at working lunches on topics ranging from how to liberate political prisoners to how to recruit hackers to the human rights movement.

The opening press conference will take place on 9-18 hosted by the Norwegian government. The event will be live-streamed, and you can follow on the Human Rights Foundation (HRF) Facebook Page, as well as on Twitter.  To attend the Event, OFF is open only to registered participants.

In a related event, the Art in Protest exhibit will move on to Chelsea the next day. On September 20th, The Human Rights Foundation invites everyone to Creative Dissent,  an exhibition featuring the work of five dissident artists, curated by HRF’s Chief Curator, Holly Baxter.
