The awards celebrate those who make New York City great! Over a dozen awards are given out each year to individuals and organizations from across all five boroughs. Nominees were submitted by the entire membership of GANYC, who will also vote on the final winners.
The eleven categories include Outstanding Achievement in Support of NYC Culture; in Support of NYC Tourism; in Support of NYC Preservation; Outstanding Website; Outstanding Achievement in NYC Photography; Outstanding Achievement in NYC Radio Program or Podcast (Audio/Spoken Word); in Fiction NYC Book Writing; in Non-Fiction NYC Book Writing; in Essay/Article/Series Writing; Outstanding Achievement in NYC Food; and Outstanding NYC Museum Exhibitions.
The list of nominees represent the best for all those who take a bite out of this Apple. One in each category will win, but they all help to make this City a sought after place to live, work and visit.
Some of the familiar organizations and exhibits include The Greenwich Village Society for Historic Preservation, Harlem Late Night Jazz, City Lab New York, Daytonian in Manhattan, Curbed New York, the exhibits New York at Its Core at MCNY, Black Power! at the Schomburg Center + so many more including photography, literature, food & more.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award, and this years winner will be Mr. Apollo himself, Billy Mitchell. And the Guiding Spirit Award will honor two amazing guides at once, Art and Susan Zuckerman.
The Guides’ Association of New York City (GANYC) is an association of independent, professional tour guides based in New York City. The Association was founded in 1974 and provides a number of services for the visiting public and members, including tour guide education, familiarization tours, professional advice and workshops.
The 2018 GANYC Apple Awards will be held on Monday, March 12th at the SVA Theater on 23rd Street between 8th and 9th Avenue. Tickets required.
